This story is about a lady and her children who we found living outside of Najaf in a landfill site. She sat with us and said, “My husband left this world and we were kicked out of our home. We now live in a tent in the outskirts of Najaf. We fear the nights most as we have no guardian. When my babies cry out of hunger, I remind them that in heaven they will have the most delicious food. My life is hard but I know that there are people in a worse situation, and for that reason I will always remain thankful.”
We were heart broken by her words and desperate situation. When beautiful hearts come together, goodness is the result. After posting their story, many generous donors came together and helped towards their cause. This allowed us to take them enough food to last them a month. She explained to us that this is the first time that they will have a proper meal since her husband passed away.
We couldn’t leave her like this and we are now drawing up plans to build her a new home.
