OUR SUCCESS STORIES

MEDICAL AID STORY – BARAKAH

Barakah is a beautiful girl from Haideriya in Iraq. She had the misfortune of being born with a cleft lip and also with a hole in her heart.

The generosity of our donors was amazing and meant that Barakah was able to have the surgery that she so desperately needed.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY

GET INVOLVED

Organise a fundraising event to raise money for A World Without Barriers. This could be anything you like, such as running a marathon, a sponsored cycle ride, a cake sale, or even climbing a mountain. Surprise us with your creativity, the ways to fundraise are endless.

If you are a health care professional, then why not join our next medical aid trip to serve the orphans and widows at the fully equipped medical clinic, the refugee camps and orphanages. We need Doctors, Dentists, Optometrists, Nurses and Pharmacists. Even if you are not a health care professional, but you are enthusiastic and hard working, help is always needed on the aid trips, so get involved. If you can help as an interpreter, we would love to hear from you.

A Poem Dedicated by Zainab W

Zainab W, Pharmacist, captured her recent experience with A World Without Barriers, in a poem.

I take a step back and close my eyes

I take a step back and close my eyes
The faces of the orphans and widows ingrained in my mind.
Seeing their terrible plight and fight made me realise
We cannot leave these people behind!
They looked at us with feelings of hope and desperation.
We hope we helped ease some of what they did endure.
The sinking feeling when we came to the realisation
That for some there was no cure!
And yet despite their trouble
We were greeted with smiles and kindness.
Watching their hardships in person will double
Our efforts to bring change to those in distress.
They will not be forgotten!
